MCC Hosts Grand Opening of Revitalized Cameron Hall - Oct. 21

October 21, 2025
WHAT: McLennan Community College will host a grand opening celebration for invited guests and media members from 5-6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 21, at Cameron Hall at 1204 Scottish Trail on the campus.
The event celebrates the revitalization of a beloved Waco landmark, originally built nearly a century ago by William Waldo Cameron, a local lumber entrepreneur whose family helped shape the city’s development. When MCC was founded nearly 60 years ago, and College trustees purchased 160 acres in north Waco, the land included the original Cameron home.
As the College marks its 60th anniversary of serving students and the Waco community, the revitalized Cameron Hall stands as a bridge between MCC’s rich history and its continued commitment to the community. The restored facility honors the Cameron family’s enduring legacy of generosity, including their donation of a 125-acre urban park that helped transform the Waco landscape.
The restoration effort began in 2019 when MCC leaders and community supporters envisioned preserving the home’s historic character while creating a modern space for college and community events. Made possible through donor contributions, the revitalized 8600-square-foot facility retains the home’s original architectural charm and courtyard while incorporating modern efficiencies. The site features a large ballroom with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Cameron Park and an inviting outdoor courtyard for gatherings.
In addition to serving as a meeting and event venue, the site will house the MCC Foundation, which serves as the hospitality arm of the College and raises funds for student scholarships. A future phase of the project will focus on raising funds to renovate the historic pool house. The celebration follows a recent donor appreciation dinner and precedes an upcoming staff reception, marking a full circle of recognition and celebration.
